Science has shown that children who get enough exercise can benefit from increased muscle strength, better concentration and improved mood.
According to the NHS website, children and parents should aim for the following:
- Kids aged 5-16 need to be active for at least 60 minutes every day
- Kids under 5 need 3 hours of activity a day
Here are a few ways to keep the kids active and off their screens this half term.
Walking
Walking boots at the ready, let’s go exploring! Even just a mile a day can improve the physical, emotional and social health of a child. Walking is also a great way to discover new places!
Fun Water Fight
Nothing will get kids moving like a spray of ice-cold water! This is a great activity for the whole family - but be warned, you’ll need to be able to give as good as you get!
Let’s Dance
If it’s looking a little dreary outside, nothing can improve your mood as much as dancing to some music. Why not make it a little competition to see who can come up with the craziest dance move? (Share these with us on socials, we’d love to see them!)
Fun Goal Sheets
Another great way to keep the kids busy and off their screens when the weather isn’t looking great is our Fun Goal Sheets. A fun, simple way to start goal planning, our sheets are here to help you support your child to set and reach their goals and encourage a healthy mindset.
